rise to the top

Everyone should have the opportunity to get on. But unless they have a measure of their competence, through qualifications or certificates to prove their skills, it can be difficult to take the next step on the career ladder.

SKILL LEVELS are very useful indicators, particularly for employers when an employee or a candidate for a new role does not have formal qualifications such as A levels or GCSEs. Our Level chart shows what each level demonstrates in terms of ability achieved, and the qualifications that can be attained.

HOW TO GET THERE

Training for qualifications needs a substantial commitment from the learner - and the more support they can get from those around them, the easier the learning process will be.

Employers can support learners to achieve in many ways. But did you know that if you have an employee who is 16 or 17 and is not yet qualified to Level 2, they have the right to take a reasonable amount of paid time off during normal working hours to study or train towards a qualification? 18 year old employees are also eligible for time off for study or training if they began studying for a relevant qualification at 16 or 17.

To find out how you can help your employees to gain nationally recognised certificates appropriate to their job role or for more information about time off for study or training, call The SkillWorks Gateway on 0845 602 0062
